SAFE
By signing up to Freehand, you agree to:
- give us true and correct information when you register
- keep your password safe
- use your own password only
- keep your personal details safe - always use your screen name rather than your real name. Don't post information about your school or home that would allow someone to find out who you are and where you live. Don't share email addresses or phone numbers online, or agree to meet anyone you don't know.
- keep other Freehanders personal details safe too.
SOUND
When posting content to Freehand in the Gallery, Lab or Lounge, you agree to:
- only post your own original content. Posting clips from other people's films or music is copyright theft, and is illegal.
- only post content that you believe to be free from viruses, malicious scripts or other corruption
- not post unsuitable content. This includes anything that attacks or insults people on the grounds of their religion, race, sexuality, disability or gender. It also includes adult content, content that promotes drug use, violence or other crimes, and any other content that FACT and the Freehand moderators consider does not belong on the site. "Content" can mean any type of file, a comment or a forum post - anything that can be traced back to you!

- keep the site free of advertising and other commercial material
SOCIABLE
When you post in the Freehand forums or leave comments for other members, you agree to:
- be friendly! Other people may have opinions that are not the same as yours - respect them! We won't tolerate bullying or harassment of any kind.
What will happen if I don't follow these guidelines?
Content that breaks our "safe, sound and sociable" guidelines may be edited, refused or removed. If you repeatedly ignore or deliberately break the guidelines, you will lose your Freehand password, and with it access to your member page and other content.
If you are a moderator and you repeatedly ignore or deliberately break the guidelines, you will lose your moderator privileges. If you then continue to ignore or deliberately break the guidelines, you will lose your Freehand password, and with it access to your member page and other content.
When I sign-up, what do FACT and Freehand agree to do?
We agree to:
- keep your registration details safe
- keep your user information safe. We need details such as email and IP addresses to make the site work, but we won't share them with anyone else unless required to do so by law. We will only use your email address to send you information about FACT and Freehand. However, we cannot guarantee against hacking or technical failure.
- provide a safe and friendly online space where bullying and harassment are not tolerated and all young people feel welcome.
- let you know if we have to remove, refuse or edit any of your content or your profile, and give you a reason why. However, the decision of FACT and the Freehand moderators is final.
- follow up your concerns, respond to queries and resolve any disputes quickly and fairly
- implement FACT's Child Protection policy
- update and improve these guidelines as necessary in order to safeguard Freehanders and the Freehand site
What will you do with my work?
Your content remains your property. If your content was created as part of a Freehand project, remember this content may also belong to other young people, to the artists who worked with you and to FACT and its partner organisations. You are free to share your content elsewhere or to remove it from your Freehand member page.
By signing-up to Freehand, you agree that FACT/Freehand may use your content for promotional purposes. It may be shown in another gallery or at a conference, hosted elsewhere online, reproduced in printed material, etc.
