Freehand is a site for people aged 13-19 who are interested in art, music, film, technology and design and who want to share their ideas and work with other young people.
Since November 2007, a dedicated team of Freehanders have been working with artist Sally Olding to develop FACT's young people's site. After researching both on and offline, they then wrote a brief and interviewed design companies, choosing Smiling Wolf as the company they wanted to collaborate with. Smiling Wolf worked with them to create the 3D viral animation, and created this site according to their specifications. The group are continuing to work on the site, moderating content uploaded by new members, and creating great new projects for the online Freehand community.
FREEHAND IS NOW LIVE. This means that you too can sign up to the site and upload your art, sounds, films, ideas to share and discuss with other young people who share your interests. You can join our online peer-led and moderated programme, or step into the real world and get involved with projects taking place at FACT.
Freehand is also the name of FACT's Young People's Programme, which offers something for anyone interested in getting involved with art/film/sound/technology projects taking place at FACT. All Freehand projects are led by young people and encourage you to take control and decide what kind of projects you want to do, how you want to do them, and who you want to do them with.
